Sony Electronics to Announce Updates to its Professional A/V Technologies for HD and 4K Production at NAB 2016

Deon LeCointe, Product Manager, Sony Electronics, talks a little about Sony's updates to its full line of professional A/V technologies for HD and 4K production at all levels, ranging from camcorders, cameras, switchers and displays for sports, live production, events and more, at NAB 2016.

Q What are you most excited to see at this year's NAB show?

A I’m most excited about the market's transition towards IP production. To be able to build an end-to-end live production system using COTS equipment like network switches while still maintaining the performance and operational practices of today's SDI environments represents a revolutionary shift for the broadcast and production community. IP-based production systems are now a practical, flexible and cost-effective solution and so much progress has been made in this area over the last few years. At the Sony booth, we will have an IP Pavilion showing all of our offerings integrated with solutions built by our 3rd party partners. This will highlight practical implementations for an IP Live Production System using products that are available for purchase today.

Paywizard Set to Unveil Major Updates to Subscriber Management Platform at NAB

Paywizard Set to Unveil Major Updates to Subscriber Management Platform at NAB

Bhavesh Vaghela, CMO of Paywizard, discusses the role of Paywizard at this year's upcoming NAB Show, new technology they are displaying and recurring trends you should probably expect to see at the show.

Q What are you most excited to see at this year's NAB show?

A In recent years, IP-based content delivery has opened the floodgates for a wide variety of new players to enter the TV space. As such, operators are under huge pressure to keep their customers happy, and are increasingly looking to international markets to grow their subscriber base. Various Pay-OTT operators are making strong inroads into these markets, but these businesses are not yet completely monopolising consumer wallets. In reality, consumers are viewing content from various sources, with VOD/OTT usage often supplementing traditional viewing habits. Consumers are still very partial to the services that traditional operators can provide, such as FTA channels, live events and sports coverage and catch up services. At NAB, I’m looking forward to seeing the ways in which operators are building more engaging services, in what is an increasingly crowded marketplace.

Simplestream to Showcase Media Hub Technology for Telecommunications Operators at NAB 2016

Simplestream, a leading provider of multi-platform live streaming and catch-up TV services to broadcast and media companies, will join the Amazon Web Services booth at NAB 2016. Commercial Director, Simplestream, Dan Finch, answers a few questions about the products Simplestream will be showing off at the show.

Q What are you most excited to see at this year's NAB show?

A Consumers are increasingly demanding greater flexibility in how, where and when they watch video content, and this is driving significant change across the TV and media industry. Last year, Deloitte reported that streaming video online overtook live programming as the viewing method-of-choice for US consumers, highlighting the need for traditional media providers to extend their reach through digital distribution. NAB provides the ideal format to focus the discussion on the opportunities arising from this converged broadcast and OTT landscape. We are excited to be a part of this conversation, and are most looking forward to meeting emerging and established content providers and distributors across sports, media and entertainment, who are interested in maximizing their reach through live streaming, TVEverywhere and live-to-VOD services.

Q What are you most excited to see at this year's NAB show?

A I’m excited to see what a lot of the camera manufacturers are coming out with this year. There’s been more of a demand for great quality digital cinema cameras that are still lightweight and, as I’m in the business of camera supports, it’s great to see what the big brands are developing for all kinds of content creators around the globe. I also can’t wait to check out the startups participating in SPROCKIT this year. It’s a thrill to see what kind of innovative products these eager companies are creating and how they’re transforming the market. In this climate, one great product can be a game changer.
