Chile’s TvTel goes live with Nevion Virtuoso-based HEVC remote production

Oslo, Norway, 7 April, 2026 – Nevion, a Sony group company, announced today TvTel (formerly Vivaro Video), a leading provider of technical and professional services for broadcast productions in Latin America, has gone live with a remote production and contribution solution for live coverage of the Chilean football league. Delivered by Sony, Nevion and local partner VGL, the solution leverages the software-defined media node Virtuoso with its new Sony-developed HEVC codec, to provide premium quality video with low latency, while significantly reducing bandwidth consumption, and therefore costs.
TvTel won the contract to provide the production services to TNT Sports (a subsidiary of Warner Bros Discovery), and realized it needed to upgrade its production infrastructure to support the coverage of up to 480 football/soccer games a year, from 32 stadiums, using 8 small OB trucks – all this with the highest quality. Specifically, it needed a WAN solution to handle both remote production and contribution, meaning media transport, broadcast control and orchestration.
The compact solution delivered involves the installation of Virtuosos in each truck, and at the headquarters in Santiago. A key component of Sony’s Networked Live offering, Virtuoso has been widely deployed across the globe to transport, process, and monitor signals in real-time. In this instance, the HEVC function of Virtuoso is used to transport reliably up to 16 video signals from the stadiums to the central facilities, and up to 4 return feeds.
The set-up, which also included 48 HDC-3100 and HDC-5500 cameras, is controlled by Nevion VideoIPath, which provides both orchestration and broadcast control.
The project was delivered in 4 months.
Gonzalo Jara, Director of technology and operations at TvTel said: “Like most organizations involved in the broadcasting of live premium sports, we require premium picture quality, low latency and as little bandwidth usage as possible. The Virtuoso HEVC functionality delivers an excellent combination of those.”
Steve Hard, Product Director Virtuoso at Nevion adds: “It has been exciting to be involved in such a high profile and critical project. This is also special for us, as it is the first deployment of the new HEVC codec in Latin America.”
Virtuoso will be on show at the Sony booth (C8401) at the NAB Show in Las Vegas, April 19–22, 2026.
