Copenhagen, Denmark, April 30th, 2025: DAD by NTP Technology reports a successful NAB Show in Las Vegas where the company focused on upcoming expansion options in development for its Thunder | Core and Penta modular audio signal interface and routing systems.

“Our Thunder | Core and Penta product families combine the transparent sound quality, operational versatility and robust construction for which DAD by NTP is globally renowned, plus space efficiency and futureproof expandability," comments Mikael Vest, COO, NTP Technology. “Two impending new options will increase the already broad choice of plug-in expansion cards which we offer for these ranges:

”The AVB Milan module will unlock the full potential of our recently introduced Control | Pack solution which provides versatile tools for live-sound engineers active in front-of-house audio production, monitor mixing and playback. Based on the IEEE-developed Time Sensitive Networking standard, Milan is an open-source audio networking protocol designed to offer high-quality delivery through prioritised network traffic. Development of the protocol is supervised by the Avnu Alliance which was established in 2009.”

“Our upcoming ST 2110-30 module will simplify the integration of network-driven audio routing in broadcast studios, mobile production trucks and post-production suites, bridging the gaps across the growing number of digital audio distribution formats. SMPTE ST 2110-30 defines how to transport linear PCM audio, including AES67-compliant audio streams, for maximum compatibility.

“We were also pleased to be welcomed during NAB 2025 into the RAVENNA AoIP community which was established by Lawo who pioneered the technology in 2010. Inherently AES67 and SMPTE ST 2110 compliant, RAVENNA is ideal for broadcast quality on-premises signal distribution, venues and live events, OB van support, inter-studio WAN and networking between production facilities.”

The AVB Milan and ST 2110-30 Audio over IP expansion modules will augment the currently available DAD interface cards which already include:

• 128 channel Dante/AES67 interface.
• AES3 interface with sample rate converter in/outs.
• Analog input module.
• Analog output module.
• Dante/AES67 module.
• Dual 3G SDI embedder/de-embedder.
• Dual MADI and DADLink module.
• Dual MADI interface with sample rate converter in/outs.

DAD'S AX64 and Penta 720 units are each capable of holding up to eight expansion cards within their 2U frame. The DAD AX Center is a 1U audio interface and router accommodating up to two cards. The 1U Penta 721 has room for a single card. The 1U half-rack width Core 256 does not take expansion cards but can easily be a part of a larger setup spanning multiple DAD units with a variety of installed expansion cards as all DAD units are controlled from DADman software.

Pricing and delivery dates of the AVB Milan and ST 2110 Audio over IP cards will be announced in early course.

Occupying 2U, the DAD AX64 is modular multi-format audio interface with eight slots for audio I/O cards from the AX32 and Penta product family. The feature set includes a wide palette of digital connectivity, built-in DAD SPQ processing, Eucon high-speed Ethernet control compatibility, internal summing engine and drivers for macOS and Windows. Dante devices such as extra A/D-D/A converters, microphone preamplifiers, headphone amplifiers, mixing consoles and loudspeakers can be added.

Designed for use in production studios, outside broadcast vehicles and public-event venues, the Penta 720 occupies 2U and can operate as a stand-alone router or be integrated as part of a larger audio router. It provides embedded audio I/Os via video SDI plus analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion. The Penta 720 includes a 1024 x 1024 multiplexer and is able to route all I/Os via up to three MADI I/O connections or IP audio. Standard connectivity features include eight channel AES3 I/O channels, MADI, two IP audio Ethernet I/Os and an Avid Pro Tools interface.
