Mac Moore, Head of M&E, CoreWeave talks about what he's looking forward to at this year's show and previewing a new Conductor integration with Epic Games’ upcoming Unreal Engine 5.2.

Conductor on its first NAB as part of CoreWeave
What's something you're really looking forward to at this year's show?
Virtual production has been a hot topic in visual effects and entertainment, and I’m interested in checking out advancements in the space and how they're being applied in broadcast. I’m also looking forward to seeing new developments in the streaming direct to cloud ecosystem and the influences they’re having on production.
Can you share what your company is showcasing at NAB 2023?
In January 2023, Conductor was acquired by specialized cloud provider CoreWeave, so this is our first NAB as part of CoreWeave. As a result of the acquisition, we’re able to tap into new areas like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and pixel streaming, which ultimately benefit our customers. At the show, we’ll be meeting with clients to preview a new Conductor integration with Epic Games’ upcoming Unreal Engine 5.2, which was announced at GDC 2023. Additionally, we’ve added support for Adobe After Effects versions 2022 onwards in Conductor.
What trends are you looking out for?
There’s a lot of enthusiasm for artificial intelligence and machine learning applications that automate mundane tasks in the pipeline. I’d like to learn more about how they’re being implemented in the broadcast world, and how technology is progressing from ideas into usable solutions.
Anything specific you're excited to see this year?
I always like checking out the incubator companies to see what they’re dreaming up. These are often the companies that will be transforming the industry in the near-future so it’s cool to witness new trends taking shape in real time.
How do you think production technology is evolving? Where is the future of the industry heading (in your opinion)?
Automation and cloud-based technology are driving the next evolution of the production industry. Workflows are becoming more efficient and intelligent, at the same time content producers are able to use resources on-demand from nearly anywhere in the world, and even stream raw content to the cloud. As all these advancements continue to coalesce, I expect to see significant innovation across the industry.
Where can we visit you at the show?
We’ll be hosting a private demo suite very close to the LV Convention Center. Please drop us a line at nab2023@conductortech.com if you’d like to schedule a time to meet up.
