An interview from the 2018 National Association of Broadcasters Convention in Las Vegas with Raul Llovera of Sony. Sony's market-leading professional media offers unrivaled quality, reliability and choice for shooting, editing, broadcasting and archiving. Sony Corporation is a leading manufacturer of audio, video, imaging, game, communications, key device and information technology products for the consumer and professional markets. With its music, pictures, computer entertainment and online businesses, Sony is uniquely positioned to be the leading electronics and entertainment company in the world. In this interview Raul talks with us about line up of Professional Media Solutions, including Disc, Memory Cards, Tape Media, and Professional HDD & SSD's.

The Optical Disc Archive is a high-capacity, future-proofed media storage that acts as an on-site backup and asset management solution. Widely used by broadcasters, sports organizations and production companies, the solution is gaining traction in other fields where data archive is key, including corporations, schools and financial organizations. It delivers reliable long-term storage and robust operations with eco-friendly power consumption. The second generation of Optical Disc Archive system adopts optical media developed jointly by Sony and Panasonic. The second generation doubles the capacity of a single cartridge to 3.3TB with a reduced price.

The Sony 105-Lumen WVGA DLP Pico Projector. It can project an image up to 120" diagonal from roughly 11.3' away, or a 40" image from just 3.8' away. It provides an 854 x 480 native resolution and up to 105 lumens of brightness for use in environments where ambient light can be kept to a minimum.

The Sony 256GB SxS Pro+ E Series Memory Card features a PCI ExpressCard 34 form factor that is designed for Sony's line of RAID storage units and professional camcorders. This card comes with a storage capacity of 256GB, capable of holding photos and videos. It utilizes the 2nd-generation PCIe interface to deliver data quickly at speeds of up to 3.5 Gb/s and writes at a rate of 2.8 Gb/s. For 4K workflows, this SxS Pro+ E memory card has a minimum write speed of 1.3 Gb/s that makes it well suited for use in production houses, newsrooms, and other professional video environments. In addition to the speeds, this card provides a set of safety features including data refreshing, data error correct, clip recreation in case of power loss, and wear-leveling data defect minimization.

Designed for use with Atomos on-camera/portable recorders and monitors, as well as Backmagic Design's HyperDeck Shuttle, HyperDeck Studio, HyperDeck Studio 12G, and HyperDeck Studio Pro, the 480GB G Series 2.5" SATA Internal SSD from Sony provides users with a capacity of 480GB for their professional recorder. Using Error Correction Code (ECC) technology, this SSD helps ensure high-speed data writing at up to 500 MB/s and 4K video recording at speeds of up to 550 MB/s, as well as a 1200 TBW lifespan. Built-in data protection technology helps preserve data, even in the event of power loss or improper disconnect, while sturdy connectors help ensure up to 3000 insertion/removal cycles. Sony's 480GB SATA 2.5" Internal SSD is compatible with Windows and Mac. Protection includes a limited warranty of 10 years or 1200 TBW, whichever is reached first.
