Interview with LiveU about the upcoming 2018 NAB Show in Las Vegas.
Q What new products/services has your company introduced since last years’ NAB?
A We launched LiveU Solo HDMI in the fall of 2017 – At $995, the LiveU Solo HDMI is the most affordable, high-quality ‘plug & play’ live streaming solution on the market, offering the best live online producing and viewing experience.
Q Finish the sentence: 2018 will be the production industry’s year of _____
A “Doing more with less.” Upping your production game using cost-effective, high-quality gear and production methods. With business models changing, a big trend we are seeing is a shift to more cost-effective ways to work in general. Content creators want to produce more content, but are budget-conscious. And they need to maintain high-production value. A good example of this is cloud production – this allows you to have less gear, less to maintain, and effectively pay-as-you-go when it comes to production. Our Solo Studio – Cloud Graphics is a great example of this.
Q What motivating factor drives you to continue innovating year after year?
A Let’s face it, live video is super cool. We have always thought so – walking around the NAB show floor, you can quickly see how exciting video is, and live video has its own unique set of challenges. But these days, you don’t even need to know what NAB is or stands for to know live video is changing your life. It’s become the number 1 feature for every major social network, with everyone from brands to Chewbacca mom going live as a way to reach friends, family, fans, customers, influencers, you name it. There has never been a more exciting time in live video then right now, and we absolutely expect that trend to continue.
Q How would you describe the energy around this years’ NAB show?
A In a word, explosive! Again, this is the most exciting time in the history of live video. And we expect the show this year to reflect that. It’s amazing that the NAB has been able to make this show such a high energy year after year for so many years, and we expect this year to be off the charts, given all that has happened in the world of live video.
Q How do you expect NAB 2018 to differ from NAB 2017?
A Every year, the show gets bigger and better. And the technology advances. So we’re eager to see how the NAB trends, new product announcements, and messaging has evolved from last year to this year.
